Ich hatte gestern Abend Spass mit dem Verschlüsseln von Emails mittels OpenPGP in KMail. Hatte das schon lange nicht mehr genutzt und wollte mal eben schnell jemandem eine Email schicken.

Wenn man das Vertrauen für ein Zertifikat nur auf „Full“ gesetzt hat, dann verweigert KMail das Verschlüsseln damit. Das Zertifikat lässt sich in der Auswahl zwar markieren, aber der OK-Knopf ist ausgegraut.

Since a KDE/Plasma 5.x update a long time ago I had the problem that changing „File type options“ (what program is used to open a specific file type) in Dolphin didn’t work anymore.

I could change everything but the moment I closed and opened the „File type options“ properties again it was reset to default.

Ein Sicherheitsupdate auf einem Linux-System nur einzuspielen, ist nicht immer ausreichend. Meist muss man auch Dienste neustarten, die diese aktualisierten Dateien/Bibliotheken verwenden.

Eigentlich total simpel, habe es aber lange nicht gefunden: cron-apt kann auch an mehrere Empfänger eine Email schicken, wenn man diese durch ein Semikolon getrennt einträgt. Also so: MAILTO="bla@example.org;blup@example.org"

Per Voreinstellung startet Cron-Apt einmal am Tag zu einer bestimmten Uhrzeit ein Update der Paketlisten, wartet aber erst noch einen zufälligen Zeitraum ab bevor es loslegt; bis zu einer Stunde.

But it also suspends while a backup to an external disk is running :(

The solution

The solution is to tell your system that something important is running and that it should not go to sleep/suspend or to shut down.

With systemd you can use the command „systemd-inhibit“. Read the man page… (man systemd-inhibit).

Finally the ability of the clock/calendar widget to display your PIM events came back in the latest update of KDE/Plasma :)

You need at least the following versions:

• „KDE Plasma“ >=5.7.4
• „KDE Frameworks“ >=5.25.0

You can check this when you start „kinfocenter“.

To be able to see your events you must enable the PIM events plugin for your widget.
